2iC is the meta standard for digital interoperability in the defence sector.

2iC customers include the UK Ministry of Defence, the US Department of Defense, the Australian Department of Defence and the New Zealand Defence Force.

Similarly, 2iC’s unique software sits at the heart of systems used in health care and disease control, and can be used in numerous other industries and sectors including front line emergency services/’blue light’ services.

The reason is simple: 2iC’s unique software and its proven Lean Services Architecture (LSA) enable diverse systems, sensors and devices to connect together reliably and securely to deliver huge gains in productivity and effectiveness.

For a military customer in the modern battlespace that can translate into digital overmatch and faster, better outcomes, with fewer casualties and loss of military assets. For customers in other sectors it equates to unparalleled interoperability and connectivity for dramatically improved efficiency and responsiveness.

Military open standard inventors

One of the core 2iC innovations that makes this advanced level of digital interoperability possible in the battlespace and in other critical field operations is the Lean Services Architecture (LSA). 2iC invented the Lean Services Architecture and the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) contracted 2iC to publish it as an open standard using the Open Government Licence.

The Lean Services Architecture specification is an important part of the MoD Land Open Systems Architecture (LOSA) programme. It allows the MoD to enable interoperability at the tactical level and realise the benefits of open systems through the adoption of a standard services interface definition.

Strong reputation and defence sector track-record

2iC is an active and respected member of several MoD technical working groups, setting the future defence standards for vehicles, soldiers, bases and more.

techUK is the trade body for UK technology companies, and 2iC is the elected chair of the Defence & Security SME Forum which represents members to wider industry and government, including ministers.

2iC senior team members also serve on several other UK MoD and Australian Army technical and engineering working groups.

DSEI is the largest defence and security event in the world and 2iC is a proud winner of the DSEI Innovation Challenge. In selecting 2iC, the judges acknowledged the importance of 2iC’s software innovation for future interoperability for both UK forces and coalition partners.

The unique 2iC software in other sectors

As well as in defence and security, the 2iC software and toolset can be used by equipment manufacturers and system integrators to maximise digital interoperability in sectors such as emergency services, malaria control and health care. Innovative, 2iC software-based solutions in such sectors are already launched or in development.

One example is 2iC-Care, a next-generation TEC (Technology Enabled Care) solution provider. 2iC-Care embeds 2iC’s unique software layer in truly digitally interoperable care solutions that are revolutionising care provision for local authority telecare departments and care homes, private care homes and the private telecare pay market.

With ‘Andi’, winner of the ITEC TEC Innovation Award 2023, 2iC-Care solves the analogue to digital switchover while delivering intelligent, cost-reducing reactive care and enabling life-changing preventative care. And it does it all in one future-proofed and flexible TEC solution.
