Graham Booth
Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder

Graham has over 25 years of software experience with large and small companies both in the UK and internationally, covering private and public sector, in domains as diverse as insurance, publishing and e-commerce through to education, health and defence. A mathematician by training, Graham was attracted to the innovation and challenge of software. Starting as a developer he has performed the full range of roles across the software development industry before starting 2iC.

Graham is the elected chair of the techUK Defence & Security SME Forum which represents members to wider industry and government, including ministers. Graham represents UK high-tech business as a member of the MoD DSF SME Working Group and also works with the MoD on the UK Generic Soldier Architecture (GSA) Technical Working Group.

Tom Berry
Head of Sales

Tom joined 2iC as Head of Sales in July 2023. In this role, he assists clients and oversees bid and delivery submissions, ensuring the highest standards of service and success.

Before his tenure at 2iC, Tom had a distinguished 10-year career as a Commissioned Officer in the Royal Marines, where he developed strong leadership and strategic skills. He continues to serve as a member of the Reserves, demonstrating his ongoing commitment to service.

Tom holds a BA History and an MA International Relations, providing him with a deep understanding of historical contexts and global dynamics that he leverages in his professional endeavours

Richard Keyse
Director

Richard is a business transformation professional who has an excellent track record of delivering strategic technology and business solutions across an enviable range of blue chip clients.

He has many years of experience working closely in/with boards and CxO level executives on a broad variety of corporately strategic initiatives covering growth or cost reduction strategies.

These include (but are not limited to) design and delivery of target operating models, M&A, global change programmes, implementations of a broad range of IT and data solutions, regulatory programmes, BPR programmes, operational reviews, introduction of new products, outsourcing arrangements and reorganisations.

Many programmes have involved large budgets and managing large multi-disciplined project teams located across multiple geographies. In addition to working with some of the largest institutions, Richard has also worked with executives of a large number of SMEs across a wide range of sectors.

Richard has held various NED and chairmanship roles of technology-based companies.

Nick Peach
Chief Technical Office and Co-Founder

With over 30 years of experience in the IT industry, Nick is a technology innovator, motivated by evolving and developing ideas into sound business and technical solutions. Nick has provided strategic thought leadership in defence having written many strategy white papers for the MoD and has contributed to the Generic Vehicle, Base and Soldier Defence Standards and technical working groups. Nick supports the Australian Army as a member of the Australian Generic Soldier Architecture (AS-GSA) Engineering Working Group.

With on-going work into distributed systems, touching on current topics such as the Internet of Things and Big Data, Nick continues to innovate with solutions for civil and other sectors.

Tom Mudryk
Head of Products

Tom joined 2iC as Head of Product in September 2022. In this role he leads on the delivery and design of the 2iC software suite as well as the creation of new products and partnered hardware solutions.

Tom is an experienced Chartered Engineer with particular strengths in solution design, creative problem solving, and hardware and software integration. His hands-on style and communication skills allow him to naturally bridge between business and technology by speaking the language of both, particularly when explaining complex technical problems/solutions.

Tom holds an honours degree in Electronic Engineering, and Masters in Microelectronics.

He began as an embedded software engineer working on sonar equipment for the defence industry, has been heavily involved in the creation and adoption of the Internet of Things, i.e. the integration of sensors and software to deliver automation and improved operational efficiencies, and more recently acted as design authority for a countrywide rollout of critical national infrastructure in the energy industry.

Charles Ward
Director

A business graduate, Charles has 30-plus years commercial experience across a variety of industry sectors and has been coaching and facilitating regularly since 2014 and also has a part-time role with InnovateUK as a Scaleup Director.

His career includes marketing and sales roles with multi-nationals 3M Healthcare, Johnson & Johnson and De La Rue, leading to senior European positions at Digital and Compaq. In the latter positions he drove the pivoting from technology to service-based propositions, which involved leading on major change programmes. In 2000 Charles became director of techUK, the industry body for the UK’s ICT sector, delivering services to 850 member companies, mostly SMEs.

Today, Charles’ credentials are derived from his time at techUK through working with a variety of businesses, professional advisors, and investors. During this period, he led several business growth initiatives that provided him with a unique insight into the performance drivers and KPIs of successful tech SMEs as well as deep understanding of common scaling challenges.

In parallel he has been an advisor to New Zealand Trade & Enterprise since 2005, supporting over 30 globally ambitious Kiwi companies with UK and European market entry.

John Patterson, CB, FIET
Chairman

John served in the British Army for 36 years, reaching the rank of major general. He was a tank commander; worked on strategy, risk and financial policy in the UK Ministry of Defence; and ran a series of technology portfolios of increasing size and complexity.

In his final appointment as Director Capability at what is now UK Strategic Command, he was responsible for a £3.5bn portfolio of tech-based capabilities across the space, air, maritime, land and cyber domains.

In addition to being 2iC’s Chair, John is Executive Chair of a space and defence-focused spinout from Manchester University.

His advisory board roles include the £120m UK Innovation & Science Seed Fund and a range of early-stage UK tech companies.  He is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology.

Nev Smikle
Head of Operations

Nev joined 2iC as Head of Operations in 2021. In this role he oversees the operational activities of 2iC and manages our people, policies and processes.

Prior to joining 2iC Nev was the Head of Operations for a high assurance cyber security SME for 8 years. Prior to that he served as a soldier and Officer in the Royal Corps of Signals, British Army, for 33 years, where he employed as a Technical Officer Telecommunications.

During his military career he served in various roles including, as the Army HQ Telecommunications Manager, Army HQ Information Security Officer and as a Telecommunications Requirements Manager.

Nev is an experienced leader and manager who has gained a range of skills and knowledge which he utilises to support and enable the delivery of projects and growth of the business.

Chris Witts
Director

Chris is a seasoned leader with a dynamic background spanning military and business realms. With nine years of service as a Commissioned Officer in the British Royal Marine Commandos, Chris has a proven track record of success in high-pressure environments. From operational deployments in Kosovo, Iraq, and Afghanistan to spearheading critical missions such as securing Saddam’s palace in Basrah, Chris exemplifies strategic thinking and tactical execution.

Transitioning from military service, Chris brought his expertise to the business arena, notably contributing to the success of AmSafe Bridport’s groundbreaking RPG protection system, Tarian. He was pivotal in winning the largest single contract for AmSafe Bridport, and launching the product into the USA.

Currently, as VP of sales for Mountain Horse Solutions, Chris spearheads sales initiatives, driving growth, delivering battle winning technologies, and fostering strategic partnerships. Whether on the battlefield or in the business world, Chris remains dedicated to achieving impactful results and driving success.
